Make/Model:  Cold Steel Natchez Bowie
Blade Material: VG-1 San Mai III Layered Stainless
Length/Style:  11.75" Bowie
Handle Material:  Black Linen Micarta w/ Stainless Steel Guard
Overall Length: 17.125"
Sheath or Clip: Leather Sheath
Description:   “Under-The Hill” was the notoriously rowdy riverfront district of Natchez, Mississippi at the beginning of the nineteenth century. So disreputable, it was seldom mentioned in the polite drawing rooms of the antebellum mansions that dotted the other side of town during the era when cotton was king. Cold Steel's Natchez Bowie was born “Under-The-Hill” and takes its pedigree from those seedy taverns and dimly lit streets.  Line-bred for battle, it’s the definitive fighting Bowie. Its long blade is perfectly shaped for strength, reach and leverage, and its significant heft is flawlessly balanced, giving it unparalleled liveliness and velocity. Combine all that with its wickedly razor sharp edge and you have a knife that pierces like a dagger, cuts like a razor and chops like a cleaver!   To compliment the Natchez Bowie and to further cement its position as the quintessential fighting Bowie, it comes with a traditional black leather scabbard. Made of the finest leather, it’s beautifully stitched and reinforced with nickel-silver rivets. It also features a thick nickel-silver belt peg so you can slip it in your waistband or under your belt without fear of losing it.

Made from San Mai III®, these knives will outperform any other stainless steel Bowie in the world in terms of strength and toughness. As an added bonus, each Stainless Trail Master® comes with a beautiful rolled edge, capable of easily severing 4" or more of free hanging manila rope!  San Mai means “three layers”. It is the term given to the traditional laminated blades used by the Japanese for swords and daggers. Laminated construction is important because it allows different grades of stainless steel to be combined in a single blade.

Length/Style:  2 7/8"
Handle Material: Quince Burl w/19 Layer Mokume
Closed Length: 3 7/8"
Sheath or Clip: Pocket Clip
Description: Two artful features of this magnificent knife deserve more than just a cursory description since the methods used in the production of this knife recon back to the artisans of the Samurai age.  The first is the lamination of the blade using the "super steel" VG-10 as the core (and edge) and the outer layers using a softer, more flexible steel to give the blade it's "spring".  The second feature is the mokume bolster.  The traditional technique of mokume gane (moku = wood, me = eye and gane = metal) was  invented by Denbei Shoami, a 17th century master metal smith from the Akita prefecture, who used it for the adornment of samurai swords. Using the mokume gane technique, the smith would create laminated metal billets that were fused by heat and pressure. The billets, composed of various combinations of steel, gold, silver and copper alloys, were forged, carved, and finished to produce uniquely patterned metal stock which was then used to fabricate parts for the samurai sword adornments. Mokume gane as traditionally practiced was a very difficult process to learn; this was partly due to the difficultly of successfully fusing the non ferrous metals and partly due to the skill required to forge the laminated billet down to useable material without delaminating it.  Quite an eye pleaser.
